Course Description

Acrylic Painting
Teacher: Dr. Yumiko Furukawa
Grades: 4th to 8th

Through this program, participants are going to complete 3-5 acrylic paintings. Participants will try to paint still life, self-portrait, animal painting (your pet), family painting, abstract painting, etc. Acrylics can be a bit tricky to work with, but Dr. Fu will assist students with expert advice and a well-equipped art studio.
hand sewing a stitch
Teacher: Brigid Borja
Grades: 3rd to 12th

My name is Brigid Borja, business owner and founder of Avery’s Nest. I’m a former elementary educator with the Department of Education of Guam for 24 years. I learned how to hand sew at a very young age and loved to create my own fabric projects. I look forward to teaching your child to hand sew a stitch to create handmade small projects, mending clothing or other small items. Sewing helps develop fine motor skills, problem solving, and creativity in projects.

Students will learn to hand sew a stitch to create handmade fabric items.  For each session, we will be creating either a fabric sack, fabric bookmarker, washcloth, hair scrunchie, and more. These handmade items can be for their personal use or given as a gift to a friend or loved one.
