The St. John's Tradition
The Pre-K Easter Egg hunt is a decade long tradition that is hosted annually by the National Junior Honor Society. The Easter Egg Hunt is a fun activity for the lower school kids to release their energy, obtain some sweet candy, and is also a way for the little kids to be part of the Easter Egg hunting culture. St. John's always strives to embellish our student's childhood experiences.

History
The tradition of the Easter Egg Hunt dates back to the time of Martin Luther. It was said that Martin Luther and his men hid "Easter eggs" for women and children to find. Easter Egg hunts occur during Easter and is meant to symbolize the tomb from which Christ arose. Eggs are usually collected in baskets held by children, who may receive a prize depending on the amount and type of eggs they find. There are usually one golden egg and one silver egg, which is the case of the NJHS Easter Egg Hunt. The kids who found them received a special prize!

NJHS
The National Junior Honor Society consists of an elite group of students who maintain high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. All of the students are from middle school. During this time of year, the students are tasked with the job of hosting the Pre-K Easter Egg Hunt. The NJHS members collaborated with each other to purchase the candy and prepare the eggs for the children. The event is hosted in the middle school playground where there are plenty of rocks and intricate places to hide them.

The Event
The Easter Egg Hunt on April 24th, 2019 was a very exciting event. They were split into four teams: Thumper, Cottontail, Peeps, and Fluffy. The four teams divided the field and conquered their respective areas. After a while, the whole field was open for all the students. At the last second, the Golden Egg, was finally found. It was found by Mr. Ryker Willaby, who is also Ms. Perez's son. Ryker obtained the grand prize, filled to the brim with candy and other treats. He was overjoyed.
