  • Thought from the Chaplain:
These words from the Apostle Paul to the Romans, chosen because of the day set aside for him this week on the church calendar: Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with those who are in need."
  • Chapel Schedule this week:

    - MS and US: Class meetings.
    - Primary: No chapel on Tuesday, because of the Lion Dance. I was also informed by Ms. Bennett that your Wacky Olympics will take place on Thursday morning, so you will not be able to join Thursday's chapel.
    - Intermediate: Regular Thursday chapel, followed by the fourth quarter awards.
  • On Tuesday, January 24 we will celebrate the Chinese New Year with the annual Lion Dance performed by students from the Chinese school at 8:00am in the gym. All classes are invited.
  • SJS PTA Merienda
    It's a get-together!
Monday, 1/23/12, 2 pm, Parish Hall
merienda (meh-ree-yenda) Usually taken in the afternoon between lunch at noon and dinner, consists of a piece of fruit, cookies, and other snacks.

Please, join us & stay informed on the latest & upcoming events at St. John's School:
    • Sports Complex update by Glenn Chapin
    • A brief layout of Wacky Olympics 1/26 & Sports Day 1/27
    • Upcoming 2012 events @ SJS: academic, music & drama, & sports All Welcome!
    • The yearbook for school year 2011-2012 is now available for purchase for $75. All payments must be turned into the business office before January 31st, 2012. You may also order the yearbook at www.jostens.com.
  • The GTA Phone Book Round Up is getting closer and closer. In December, GTA began delivering new phone books to businesses and homes. We at SJS will collect old phone books (any year, any country) and we hope to come #1 in the Round Up and win up to $3000. Last year, we placed 2nd overall and won $2000.

Now is the time to ask friends and acquaintances who own businesses and live in condos to commit their old phone books to SJS. When the time comes, we will arrange for pick up if needed.

This will be a House competition, as it was last year (the winners last year were the younger kids from Lime Green House). And they are once again in the lead for this year!!

We are now collecting phone books. Bring them to the front office, sign the sheet indicating student name and House color and how many phone books you've brought in. Thanks so much. The Environmental Club

I am no longer signing off on CAS forms for the month of DEC. This year's Recycling theme is SEPARATE, SEPARATE, SEPARATE. Mr Pearson
  • Night Library will be held from 7-9 pm any night before a school day. Night Library will be held in Room 104 of the Upper School, except on Weds when it will be held in Mrs L-G's room. Students who need a place to work on homework or study for a test are welcome. This is not a time for socializing, and students who do not adhere to study time regulations will be asked to leave. I am also looking for Honor Society students who would be willing to commit one or two evenings a week to help work with other students needing assistance. Please see me if you are interested. Mr Pearson
