Mathematics
Math Skills (6th - 7th Grade): Designed to teach students critical fundamental algebra skills. Some of the topics include simplifying expressions , real numbers, solving equations inequalities and graphing linear equations.
Navigate your way through Math with ALEKS (5th - 12th Grade): This course is a self-paced math class using a computer application to track the progress of the student through the material. A teacher will be present to help the student set daily and weekly goals and to help with any subject specific difficulties.
Pre-Algebra (Middle/Upper School): This course emphasizes the study of integers, order of operations, variables, expressions and equations. Students will solve and graph equations, inequalities, proportions, and explore geometric and statistical concepts.
Algebra (Middle/Upper School): This course covers many topics typically found in a first-year algebra course. We will start with basic algebraic properties, learn how to evaluate expressions, and solve two-step equations before moving onto multi-step equations and inequalities. If time permits, we will move to functions and linear equations. This course is a good fit for students who will be taking Algebra next year and want to get a head start, or those who just finished Algebra and want to keep the concepts fresh over the summer!
Materials
- Pencils, erasers
- If possible - basic art supplies (colored pencils/markers/crayons, scissors, tape or glue)
Geometry (Middle/Upper School): This course covers many geometry topics -- from points, lines, and planes, to angles and triangles. Algebra concepts and skills, and real-life applications are interwoven with the geometry. This course is a good fit for students who have completed Algebra I and wish to get a head start on Geometry, or those who just finished Geometry and want to keep the concepts fresh over the summer! Algebra I is a prerequisite for this class.
