St. John's School employs a number of web-based services to supplement the instruction provided by its faculty. Listed below are St. John's Adopted Online Services for the upcoming school year. Some, such as FACTS grade reporting platform or Google's G Suite Education, are used predominately throughout the day by the students and faculty. Other services are used for particular classes or particular grade levels. It isn't necessary for students to have accounts in all of these services, they are presented here as a collection to refer to.
Each service below has been reviewed by St. John's School for its purpose, appropriateness, and respect for student's privacy. Under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), schools are directed to seek parental consent before creating online accounts for students. At St. John's School, it is our policy to do this for all students under the age of 18. Parents or guardians will be asked to review the list of adopted services and give the school written consent to create the necessary accounts for their child. This permission will be sought each year as additional services may be added while others may no longer be used.
Please review the list below and explore them further using the button links to each school division. Each service is described on those pages with links to the privacy policy and terms of service.

Student Privacy
When reviewing the services, it is important to understand what personally identifiable information and academic data are collected. Students and parents have rights concerning how web-based services collect this information from children. Accounts are tracked & should be deleted by the school or the student when they are no longer needed, depending on the type of service. Whenever possible, the school will use the student's school-issued Google account to register for the service. These Google accounts are created as pseudoynms without the student's complete name. Please note that most services will automatically collect metadata, such as device, geolocation, and browser information. Other passive data may be collected in order to provide or enhance the service. Additionally, some services may include advertisements and links to 3rd party content. These factors were all considered when composing our list of adopted online services. Products that were deemed too intrusive were not included. You'll find many of the approved services have some distinction with respect to student privacy and have been awarded a stamp of approval by associations such as the Student Privacy Pledge. Parents can seek more information or direct questions to the school's Technology Director.
The St. John's Online Service Permission form is the document used to signify consent from a parent or guardian of the list of St. John's Adopted Online Services for this school year. Students will be given a copy of the form in the first week of school to be signed and returned. A copy is available for download using the button below.
